Underfloor Heating Requirements:

  • Before laying you must check and follow all precautions provided by the Underfloor Heating Supplier.
  • If the heating system is new, the system has to be switched on at least 3 weeks before laying the floor.
  • Before laying the floor the underfloor heating system must have been operable at normal capacity for at least 10 consecutive days.
  • Before laying the floor the underfloor heating system has to be switched off at least 48 hours prior to installation.
  • Before installation the engineered plank flooring must have been allowed to aclimitse to the room temperature conditions for at least 48 hours.
  • On the day of laying the sand cement subfloor should not exceed a temperature of 18*C.
  • The moisture content of the cement based subfloor must not exceed 1.5% (MC%), or 0.3% (MC%) for anhydrite.
  • For underfloor heating system the flooring planks MUST be glued down to the subfloor.
  • The underfloor heating system can be switched on again 1 week after the installation completed but turned on initially very low and increasing the temperature very slowly by 1*C per day.
  • It is important to ensure that the floor temperature does not exceed 27*C.
  • It is important to ensure that the relative humidity of the room always remains between 45% – 65%.
  • It is important that the conditions surrounding the flooring whilst it is being installed and for its lifetime afterwards adhere to these guidelines or the timber may have an adverse reaction.
  • Please remember that timber is hygroscopic and will therefore react accordingly.
